West Valley Guide covers the communities of the western San Fernando Valley — the neighborhoods where a lot of us actually live, work, and raise families, not just pass through on the 101. Woodland Hills

Woodland Hills is the commercial heart of the West Valley and, at close to 75,000 residents, its largest neighborhood by population — Warner Center's offices and shopping sit a short drive from quiet, tree-lined residential streets and easy access to hiking trails in the Santa Monica Mountains. It's home to the free Warner Park summer concert series, a weekly farmers market, and a mix of longtime family businesses and newer independent restaurants along Ventura Boulevard. This is West Valley Guide's home base and the neighborhood we cover most closely.

Canoga Park

Canoga Park, home to roughly 61,000 people, is a neighborhood in the middle of a genuine comeback. Its historic downtown — centered on Sherman Way and known locally as Antique Row — is anchored by the newly restored Madrid Theatre and the growing Canoga Park Arts District, bringing live performance and local culture back to a part of the Valley with deep aerospace and entertainment-industry roots. It's one of the more diverse, fastest-changing corners of our coverage area, and one of the more interesting ones to watch.

West Hills

West Hills is the quieter, greener side of the West Valley — a close-knit neighborhood of about 46,000 built around historic open space like Shadow Ranch Park (a working ranch dating to 1869) and Orcutt Ranch, plus miles of hiking trails at the edge of the Simi Hills. It's known for strong schools, spacious lots, and a slower pace than its busier neighbors, while still being minutes from Warner Center and the 101.

Chatsworth

Chatsworth, home to around 51,000 residents, sits at the Valley's northwestern edge, where suburban streets give way to the dramatic rock formations of Stoney Point and the 1,325-acre Chatsworth Nature Preserve. It's got a genuine outdoor streak — rock climbing, hiking, an equestrian community, and a film history that runs deep (the Iverson Movie Ranch here was used in more than 2,000 productions).
