Weather: Extreme Heat Warning continues

NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard has an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for the Western San Fernando Valley (zone CAZ372) and surrounding Los Angeles and Ventura County coasts and valleys. The alert, last updated Oct. 2 at 10:38 a.m. PDT, states dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 90 at the coast and 105 in the valleys, and remains in effect until 8 p.m. PDT Thursday. The office notes heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events, and that very hot temperatures are likely to continue into the second week of October, possibly requiring an extension of the product. NWS guidance with the alert: drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
